Brooklyn Condo Bathhouse
Project type
Residential
Date
May 2025
Location
Brooklyn, New York
Designed for a Brooklyn condo renovation, this bathroom was conceived as a moody, immersive retreat, layered with warmth, texture, and quiet contrast. The project balances old-world references with contemporary restraint, creating a space that feels both cinematic and deeply livable.
Rich walnut millwork wraps the perimeter of the room, concealing storage while introducing warmth and depth throughout the elongated footprint. A custom marble vanity with softened rounded edges anchors the space, paired with sculptural mirrors and aged bronze fixtures that patina beautifully against the darker palette.
The checkerboard stone flooring references classic European bathhouses, reinterpreted through a more minimal and refined lens. Full-height smoked glass shower partitions maintain openness while adding another layer of tonal depth and reflection.
Lighting was intentionally kept soft and ambient to emphasize materiality over brightness, allowing the textures of wood, stone, plaster, and metal to shift throughout the day.
The result is a bathroom that feels intimate and transportive, a departure from the expected contemporary condo aesthetic, designed instead around atmosphere, permanence, and emotional warmth.
